My Focus as Your Candidate

Putting Children and Education First

I have always been a person who puts others first, cares about the Community and the Education System within it. That’s what being a Leader is all about. After years of experience working in retail I have learned a great deal on Public Service and how to make positive change in the people's lives.  That I have decided to help make postive change in the Grand Ledge Schools by running for School Board.  It’s this intense dedication, passion, and devotion that fuels my fight for change.  It’s time we put Education and Children First again in the Schools.

My Focus

Education

  • All students are provided quality education

    • This includes learning styles. Our students do not learn in a “one size fits all” way.

    • Getting back to the basics: Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Life Skills, Physical Fitness.

  • Preparation for after graduation

    • This includes college preparation and trade school.

  • High School testing

    • Our students should be prepared for state required testing and the tests should reflect the understanding of the content that is being taught.

  • Age and topic appropriate content

    • No political agenda.

    • Allow parents to opt out.

  • Develop inspiring curriculum that creates respect for all and a love of our nation

  • Display parents' rights laws in the code of conduct with an opt-in letter to ensure the rights of parents and children

  • Encourage our parents, teachers, and administrators to work as a team for the betterment of our students.

  • Curriculum transparency for all grade levels and all class offerings.

    Parental Choice/Involvement

    • Parents should be involved and included in their child's education and issues that pertain to school and their time in the districts.

    • Parents should never be ignored or have their concerns go unheard.

    • Parents know what is included in the curriculum for each grade and class including books that will be used.

    Safety & Security

    • Our children should be safe in the buildings. Security training for all staff & students and enhancements to building security systems/cameras.

    • Bullying - review or create a no bullying policy and adhere to it.

    Teachers

    • Survey administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff to determine professional development needs & provide well-researched training.

    • Support our teachers in their opinions and suggestions without fear of negative repercussions by administrators/leadership.

Please feel free to fill out the survey by clicking the survey button and let me know your concerns if any within the District.
